Home?Documentation? When acting as an import agent for household appliances and electronic products, what is 3C certification?
Enterprises inimport and exportconsumer electronics such as home appliances and computers are often required to obtain3Ccertification, but what is 3C certification? In line with Chinas WTO commitments and the principle of national treatment, the country implements a unified compulsory certification mark. Its English name is China Compulsory Certification, abbreviated as 3C certification.
The compulsory product certification system is a conformity assessment system implemented in multiple countries, aimed at protecting consumer safety, the environment, and national security. The NSC (National Security Committee) oversees the management, organization, and implementation of the national compulsory product certification system. For products subject to compulsory certification, the state issues a unified catalog, determines applicable national standards, technical regulations, and implementation procedures, and sets a unified mark.
Products listed in the compulsory catalog must be certified by state-designated certification bodies. Only after obtaining this certification and affixing the certification mark can they be sold, imported/exported, or used.
Therefore, when acting as an agent for importing home appliances or electronics, the first step is to ensure the product falls within the certification scope. If so, it is essential to confirm whether the manufacturer has 3C certification before importing. Otherwise, customs clearance may be impossible later, leading to forced returns.
